Bahamas Strong

The need for Bahamian relief was great following the largest and most devastating storm the Bahamas has ever seen. The South Florida roofing community was uniquely positioned to assist in providing shelter to those in desperate need. Certified Contracting Group was proud to partner with Channel 4's, Neighbors4Neighbors to send tarps and supplies to the hardest hit areas.

We continue to request assistance with relief efforts in the battered Abaco Island of Marsh Harbor. There are many residents of Marsh Harbor that have no homeowner’s insurance coverage and limited or no personal resources to begin the roof replacement process. There are several organizations that are combining resources to help families in Marsh Harbor with their dire financial situation. One organization in particular, Bahamas Strong, has the following mission: Our focus is to provide rescue and relief resources to the victims of natural disasters in The Bahamas. Bahamas Strong, and the Marsh Harbor project in particular, has support from long time RCASF members Rob Kornahrens of Advanced Roofing Inc. and Gene Fall of Certified Roofing Specialists, Inc.

The following types of donations and involvement are now being accepted: In-Kind Material Donations, Building Tools & Equipment, Monetary Donations & Labor Assistance. Right now, the Bahamas Strong has a monetary fundraising goal of $250,000. Currently the focus is on 60 homes in the Marsh Harbor community that are in need of structural framing, plywood sheeting, dry-in felts, and shingles. Based on a recent site visit and assessment by Gene Fall, it is clear Marsh Harbor homeowners are unable to make repairs due to the disastrous loss without outside help from organizations like “Bahamas Strong”. Please contact the RCASF at admin@rcasf.org.

Sheridan House New Roof with RCASF

Certified Contracting Group and the RCASF is  pleased to have partnered with the Sheridan House by providing the roof for this structure. This triplex provides temporary housing solutions for single moms currently in their program. Sheridan House serves single moms by offering  intensive group training in areas such as finances, parenting, resume preparation and interviewing skills, as well as meal planning on a budget and more. The goal of this training is to equip these moms with the knowledge necessary for them to succeed in life. Rather than simply supplying a “hand out,” they strive to offer a “hand up.”

Sheridan House is a multifaceted ministry dedicated to helping families from our Parenting On Purpose radio broadcast to our Residential Boys’ Homes, Single Mom Ministry or our Counseling Centers.

Sheridan House exists because families matter. They matter to God and they matter to us. That’s why we provide Answers for Today’s Family through our various ministries.

In each ministry we are honoring Christ by serving the needs of children and families. As we encourage, equip, and educate families with God’s plan on how to navigate life successfully, we hope to strengthen families, the community, and the kingdom of God. Since 1968, Sheridan House has served over 1,000,000 families in Jesus’ name.

Neighbors 4 Neighbors

With the generous support of local roofing contractors and associate members, the RCASF was able to provide a new roof to a family in need.

CBS4’s Neighbors4Neighbors brought the need of Jackie Tew and her daughter, Jade to the attention of the RCASF via Board Member, Rob Foote. (Frank H. Furman, Inc.). Mr. Foote elevated Jackie’s story to the RCASF Board of Director’s and the Association quickly deployed all available resources to assist Ms. Tew.

Jackie Tew was in foster care from the age of 4 until the age of 18. She was taken from her parents at age four because they were drug addicts with psychiatric disorders whose neglect resulted in the death of Jackie’s brother at age two. Jackie’s parents are now deceased. Jackie graduated from high school and, at age 19, became a single mother to Jade Tew, now age 11.  Jackie worked for many years at Publix and managed to save up enough money to buy the small house in Liberty City in which she and Jade reside. Jackie is now attending college at Miami-Dade Community College.

As a result of an injury to her right leg and foot, Jackie has difficulty walking without a brace. Jackie has been a superb mother to Jade. Jade’s father has never cared to meet Jade or financially care for her. Jade plays in the Miami Music Project Children’s orchestra and attends a Miami magnet school for gifted child musicians.

The Tew house was badly in need of repair, especially a new roof. After inspection, it was determined that the gift of a roof would mean that Jackie and Jade would not be homeless.

RCASF issued a call to action to members asking for donations and manpower to complete an entire re-roof in one day.

Charity Project with RCASF

Certified Contracting Group Chairty Project with RCASF for Amber Henderson is a Nurse for the Broward County School Board. She works to ensure that all children with special needs receive the services they require. After the loss of her mother due to the mental illness of her brother, Amber became an advocate for families facing mental health problems. She was a mental health first responder after the Parkland School shootings.

Amber Henderson’s house was in need of a new roof. Ms. Henderson, a single mom of two, lived in this house her entire life. She inherited the house after the loss of her mother. With no family nearby and a small support system, Amber hadn’t found the resources necessary to begin this project. A member of RCASF who was familiar with the Associations philanthropic endeavors, approached the RCASF Board of Directors with Amber’s plight. The Board immediately recognized Amber as a worthy recipient of a helping hand.

RCASF issued a call to action to members asking for donations and manpower to complete an entire re-roof in one day.

City of Hollywood Inspector, Larry Lancaster agreed to come out to on a Saturday to perform the needed inspections. Upon arrival, Mr. Lancaster stated, “Look at all these companies working together on a weekend. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

RCASF stands proud of all our members who continuously step up and support our community.

4Kids Independent Living Home
Partnering with RCASF, Certified Contracting Group is proud to support a new roof for 4Kids Independent Living Home

4KIDS exists to bring hope, homes, and healing to kids and families in crisis across South Florida.

In partnership with local churches, businesses, and government agencies, 4KIDS is committed to redefining foster care in our community, one child at a time.

As young men and women age out of foster care at 18 they are often left with nowhere to go. Many of these young adults do not have the skills and resources needed to thrive independently and be on their own. 4KIDS Spirit of Success Institute (SOSI) exists to guide young men and women as they transition out of foster care and into independence by offering a two-year transitional independent living residential program.

During these two years, residents can complete their GED or further their education, gain employment experience, participate in life skills classes, and learn financial responsibility; all the while being surrounded by an encouraging group of resident advisors, mentors, and other young adults.

WE BELIEVE THESE YOUNG ADULTS DESERVE OUR SUPPORT AND WE BELEIVE IN THEIR FUTURE!
